Here we go! Ole! Ole!

Well, hello! Some of you may recognize my name, C.J. Daft, from my writing days at The Daily Press in the High Desert of southern California (I bounced in early 2014 after nine and a half years) or more recently from my freelancing with the Los Angeles News Group. Or maybe to your disappointment, you got here by googling “Daft.” My bad!

I’ve decided to start writing a blog. While a lot of my past writing has centered around sports, this blog will not contain just sports observations. It’s an opportunity to share some of my observations and experiences I come across on a daily basis. That includes the challenges of parenting when lacking any experience of taking care of a small child or wanting to know (did you know…well I’ll save that for another post so that you might come back), as well as having a three-year-old child obsessed with princesses. For those of you don’t know, I’ve been married for four years to my lovely wife Dorothy and have an adorable 3-year-old daughter named Tennysen (and no the name didn’t come from the late poet for you scholarly folk, but that’s a story for a different day).

That's me on the left with my daughter Tennysen in the middle, my wife Dorothy, second from the right, and her youngest sister Lindsey photobombing and ruining a perfect photo. This was taken during the summer of 2014 at Dorthy's family reunion.

Life is interesting, and this is as good of a spot to capture the silliness that is life. There might even be some attempts (poor at that) at fictional and poetry writing.

So sit back and stuff your face with popcorn. Hopefully there’s some type of entertainment value here that brings forth some type emotion, whether you stumbled upon this on accident or not.
